76,500 people visited Expovacaciones 2018
The event was officially opened by the Deputy Minister for Trade and Tourism of the Basque Country, Isabel Muela. 261 exhibiting firms took part, including tourism companies, wholesalers, travel agency representatives, transport companies, official organisations, hotels, estate agents and camping and caravanning companies, to name a few. The Caravanning area was extended and had more than 26 brands exhibiting, as well as over 70 vehicles of different kinds, like camper vans, caravans and motor homes.
All the autonomous regions in Spain were present in the holiday area, and there were also international companies from countries like Romania, as the guest country, Argentina, Chile, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Portugal, Morocco, Japan, France, Andorra and the Nordic countries.
This year there was a new event at Expovacaciones, “I Torre BEC Extreme”, a sports activity sponsored by the Biscayan Athletics Federation. More than 100 participants had to climb 626 steps over 19 floors. The winners in the male category were Roberto Garay, 3:00 min; David Robles, 3:01 min, and Adrián Campo, 3:07 min. The winners in the female category were Maite Cervera, 4:00 min; Reyes Nicolás, 4:04 min, and Garazi Arruti, 4:17 min.
Visitors were able to enjoy a wide range of activities at Expovacaciones, like a beer festival, “Mai Bier Experience”, with an atmosphere like the “Oktoberfest”, and the “Gastronomy and Tourism” space, where visitors were able to taste some of the most typical products of Galicia, Asturias, Basque Country, Catalonia, Cantabria, Castilla y León and Andalusia. Next to this place we could find the “Active Sports Tourism” area, where visitors could discover first-hand the experience of doing tourism motivated by leisure, health, sociability and fashion.
Furthermore, the event had a “Presentations Area” in which several autonomous communities and cities participating in the fair presented their regions and the latest holiday proposals.
Exhibitors also offered many activities like food tasting, folklore shows, dancing, theatre performances, “castells”, virtual tours using 3D glasses, wine tasting and sensory workshops with artisan products, among other things. There were also more than twenty prize draws, like in previous years, offering products and stays. And visitors who booked their holidays at Eroski Viajes, Viajes Ikea, Pisamundo and The Basque Club travel agency stands got 5% off their purchases.
75,000 people visit Expovacaciones 2017
Expovacaciones, the International Tourism and Leisure Time Fair, held from 5th to 7th May in Exhibition Hall 3 at Bilbao Exhibition Centre, has been visited by 75,000 people. The event, which was opened by Alfredo Retortillo, the Basque Government’s Minister for Tourism, Trade and Consumption, included the presence of a total of 209 exhibitors, from practically all the autonomous communities, and the international representation of countries like Japan, Guest Country at Expovacaciones 2017; Cuba; Dominican Republic; Argentina and Chile (Open Argentina); Portugal; Morocco; Andorra; France and Madagascar. The latter was in the capacity of “Paradise to be Discovered”.
Over the three days of the fair, many wholesalers were present as well as representatives of travel agencies, transport companies, official bodies, tourism companies, hotels, camping and caravanning firms and estate agencies. Expovacaciones 2017 included an extensive area devoted to Caravanning, consisting of over 70 new, semi-new and second-hand vehicles (caravans, motor homes and vans) from 25 makes.
Visitors to Expovacaciones were able to enjoy an extensive programme of activities, including the “MAI BIER EXPERIENCE” beer festival, in which they were able to enjoy an “Oktoberfest” atmosphere. Furthermore, as a new feature with respect to previous editions, Expovacaciones 2017 presented the “Gastronomy and Tourism. Hole 19” space, in which visitors could savour some typical products from Galicia, Asturias, Basque Country and Catalonia. For the first ever year, the event had a Presentations area in which diverse autonomous communities and cities participating in the fair presented their territories and the latest holiday proposals. In the area devoted to golf, the 2nd Golf Show was held, in which those interested could have their first golf classes and the more expert visitors could participate in the different accuracy and precision competitions.
Furthermore, the exhibitors carried out diverse activities such as gastronomy tastings, cookery workshops, folklore exhibitions, dances, theatre performances, virtual tours using 3D glasses, prize draws and competitions, among many other proposals presented. Like in previous editions, there will be various raffles of flights and stays in national and international tourist destinations. Visitors who made holiday reservations during the fair at the Eroski Viajes and Viajes Ikea stands received a 5% discount.
161 exhibitors in Expovacaciones 2016
From 6th to 8th May, Bilbao Exhibition Centre held EXPOVACACIONES 2016, bringing together 161 exhibitors from autonomous communities and countries, which took advantage of the event to promote their varied tourist offer.
Camp-sites, caravans, tourist promotion areas aimed at culture, gastronomy, sport in the most varied forms, sun, mountains or simply relaxation, were the offers that attracted dozens of thousands of people to the Bilbao Exhibition Centre venue.
Expovacaciones welcomed 85,000 visitors in 2015
The Bilbao Exhibition Centre welcomed 85,000 people the weekend in which Expovacaciones was held.
Expovacaciones, the international tourism exhibition was held from 8 to 10 May and showcased the most interesting “Trends and Experiences”, in terms of routes, destinations and the most innovative alternatives for leisure and free time.
The 36th Edition of Expovacaciones brought together 387 companies that offered a broad portfolio of touristic experiences to suit everyone’s taste, and had the participation of the autonomous communities, city councils, tourist boards and other public bodies focused on tourism from Aragon, Asturias, Andalusia, the Balearic Islands, Cantabria, the Canary Islands, Castilla y Leon, Madrid, Murcia, Navarre, the Valencian Community, the Council of Barcelona and the Provincial Boards of Caceres and Huesca, the Provincial Council of Bizkaia and Caceres and the Cities of Barakaldo (Bizkaia), Guijuelo (Salamanca), Rosas, Ampuriabrava and Calonge Mont Roig.
